Atlantis, The Palm Launches Golf Initiatives with the first Race to Atlantis Corporate Golf Day at the Els Club Dubai

Atlantis, The Palm has announced its own ‘Race to Atlantis’ with a number of golf activities in the coming months, ensuring the Middle East’s leading entertainment resort is delivering additional value to golfing guests and corporate clients. The kick-off to the ‘Race to Atlantis’ was an exclusive Corporate Golf Day at The Els Club in Dubai Sports City, followed by a prize ceremony and cocktail party at Nasimi Beach. In the warm-up for the DP World Tour Championship in November, Atlantis offered the winner the unique and exciting opportunity to play in the Pro-Am at the DP World Tour Championship. The ‘Race to Atlantis’ Corporate Golf Day was hosted by Joel Sjoholm, the Atlantis Golf Ambassador and permanent member of the European Tour who is currently racing towards the top 60 players. He held a golf clinic where he provided exclusive tips for participants and hosted activities such as beat the pro.
 
 “We have partnered with Swedish pro-golfer Joel Sjoholm as our brand ambassador for the resort on the European Tour. Like Atlantis, Joel is passionate about Dubai and its reputation in the international golfing community,” said Carl Palmlund, Vice President, Group Sales, Atlantis, The Palm. “We wanted to support him to achieve his dreams, and also have him share his passion for Atlantis with his peers and followers. We are excited he is climbing the ranks after consistent results in past tournaments.”

The overall winner of the ‘Race to Atlantis’ Corporate Golf Day at The Els Club was Gurbax Singh with a superb result of 39 point total – he received a ticket to play in the Pro-Am and will be rubbing shoulders with the finest golfers on the European Tour. Additionally, he won a 2-night stay in Atlantis, 2 hospitality passes for DP World Championship, access to the Championship Beach party at Nasimi Beach, a dinner for two at Seafire, as well as TaylorMade products.

Best Gross was won by Pontus Fredriksson (70 Strokes). Mark Hay (37 Points) was 2nd and 3rd place went to Monika Kondrad with 36 Points. Prizes were also awarded for long drive, which was won by Ricky Dominguez (333 Yards) and the ‘nearest the pin’, won by Andrew Croft (3 Yards). The valuable prizes also included a luxury stay at Atlantis, The Palm, an invitation to the private player’s party, hospitality tickets during the DP World Tour Championship, dinners in Nobu, Seafire and Saffron, as well as ShuiQi Spa vouchers and Aquaventure tickets.

“We are delighted with the success of the ‘Race to Atlantis’ Corporate Golf day, all our guests entered into the spirit of the day and some lucky competitors took home fantastic prizes. Congratulations to all of our winners,” added Palmlund.

Partners of the day were TaylorMade adidas Golf (TMaG) who provided players with the brand’s merchandise and equipment, as well as The Els Club offering the stunning golf course.

Last month, Atlantis announced that the top 60 golfers on The European Tour will enjoy a luxurious end to the 2012 campaign as the resort signed on for three more years as the Official Hotel of the US $8 million DP World Tour Championship, Dubai – the final event of the season-long Race to Dubai.

Atlantis, The Palm will implement a number of golf activities at the resort in the month of November as part of its new ‘Race to Atlantis’ initiative, including competitions with great prizes, fun golf pitching and putting, kids game area and culinary surprises to create extra excitement around the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai.
