Ashcroft Triumphs in Seniors Championship at the Emirates Golf Club

David Ashcroft produced a superb performance over the Majlis course to card a gross 79 and triumph in the Men’s Seniors Championship by a narrow one shot margin. Ashcroft went in to the event as one of the favourites playing off a handicap of 5.

He lived up to his billing and narrowly edged out Charlie Stricklin in to second place following his 80. Tony Hutchinson claimed third with an 82. In the over 60’s category Iain Everingham signed for a gross 87 to clinch that prize for the second year in a row.

The net category produced a fine performance by Glyn Sowerby his 70 was the best of the day and four clear of Mark Yanchus and Brian Edwards.

Sowerby not only secured the best net score of the day but he also qualifies for the Luckiest Ball on Earth Grand Final to be held on Earth course, Jumeirah Golf Estates on Tuesday 15th November. In addition Ian Anderson won a spot in the Grand Final by finding the Lucky Ball on the Driving Range prior to teeing off. Sowerby and Anderson will join 58 other qualifiers in the Grand Final with the winner gaining a coveted spot in the Rolex Pro-am to be held on Tuesday 6th December playing alongside one of the leading professionals in the world.
