Arabian Ranches Golf Club crowned Champions of 2011 – 2012 UAE Invitational Scratch Golf League
Arabian Ranches Golf Club, Dubai beat Yas Links, Abu Dhabi in the final by 6 – 2 to become champions of the 2011 2012 UAE Invitational Scratch Golf League.
The first leg held at Arabian Ranches Golf Club on Friday saw the home team take a decisive 3 – 1 advantage to the second leg on Saturday at Yas Links where the result was repeated for a 6 – 2 overall winning margin.
This is the second occasion that Arabian Ranches have lifted the League title following their victory in the inaugural Invitational Scratch League in 2006 – 07.
The only other winners in this the sixth season of the league are Emirates Golf Club who won the title for four consecutive seasons from 2007 – 2008 until 2010 – 2011.
Strong performances on both days came from Arabian Ranches Club Champion Max Burrow, Aaron Birch, Steve Bennett and Gary Swan who were all double winners for the winning team.
The format throughout the League has been 8 players a side playing in a fourball betterball scratch matchplay format.
Bob Driver, League Co-ordinator said at the result announcement, ‘Congratulations go to Arabian Ranches Golf Club for their fine victory in both the two leg final as well as their winning their Round Robin League and their famous semi-final victory over Emirates Golf Club. Throughout the season long league of 27 matches there has been participation from 153 of the leading golfers from the UAE and we thank all 12 competing clubs and all these golfers for their continued enthusiasm.’
Both teams also thanked Bob Driver for his co-ordination of all League arrangements this season.

Match 4 – Doug McLennan & Xavier Farrington lost to Rob Alter & Dan Weisser 1 up.

Match 5 – Rob Alter & Roman Hawczuk lost to Max Burrow & Aaron Birch 2 & 1.
Match 6 – Henry Kim & Manny Ostojic lost to Doug McLennan & Charlie Simpson 1 up.
Match 7 – Joe Howell & Dan Weisser beat Iain Lachlan & Francisco Giles 5 & 3.
Match 8 – James Cook & Patrik Daintry lost to Steve Bennett & Gary Swan 8 & 6.
