Annual Troon Golf Middle East Associates Inter-club Challenge tees off at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club
Associates from Troon Golf’s five UAE properties recently teed off their annual battle in the first round of the 2014 Troon Associates Inter-club Challenge at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club.
The opening match saw reigning champions The Track Meydan Golf take to the Gulf’s first beachfront golf course to defend their title against home-team Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, Abu Dhabi Golf Club, The Els Club and The Address Montgomerie Dubai.
Now in its third year since all five properties entered into the competition, the Troon Associates Inter-club Challenge series is played with teams of eight in an Individual Stableford format, where the top six scores count towards each team.
The Address Montgomerie Dubai now lead the way with 222 points, following a stunning first round which saw them finish 12 points ahead of second place-holders Saadiyat Beach Golf Club with 210. Abu Dhabi Golf Club scored a respectable 182 points to take third position in the standings.
Saadiyat Beach Golf Club Agronomist Krishna Kumar made the most of the home advantage, scoring a sterling 42 points to secure the title of overall individual winner.

Krishna’s win was a bonus on top of a spectacular day of competition, and we look forward to watching the action unfold further at Abu Dhabi Golf Club this Wednesday.”
The second round of the Troon Associates Inter-club Challenge will take place on 23 July at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, with the series culminating on August 31 at The Track Meydan Golf.
