Amarnani, Stathis and Fredriksson Start Well in Mashreq Medal Championship

Prem Amarnani recorded the best score of the day in the first event of the ‘The Mashreq Medal Championship in association with BMW’. The 25-handicapper carded an excellent round over the Nick Faldo designed course to clinch Division C (handicap 21-34) with a net 63.

Pontus Fredriksson, the three times Club Champion, also started the Medal Championship in fine style with a gross and net 72. He completed the arguably more difficult front nine of the Faldo course in 34 strokes, 2-under par, including birdies at the 3rd and 7th holes. An up and down back nine including birdies on the 13th & 16th but dropped shots on the 10th, 14th & 17th resulted in a 2-over inward half and level par total. He took home the prize for best gross and runners-up place in Division A (handicap 0-10). Jignesh Sangani made use of the calmer morning conditions to sign for a one-under par 71 to clinch Division A. Tarun Khanna took third following his 73.

Stathis Stathis continued his good run of form with a net 68 to win division B (handicap 11-20). Anand Lakhiani claimed second with a 75 followed by Rabih Sfeila two shots further back.
