Ali Ahmed Overall Winner of The UAE National Monthly Final tournament
The Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting, & Golf Club (AESGC) played host to the Final UAE National Monthly of this season, on April 5, 2014.
The sunny yet breezy afternoon in Al Ain gave the golfers a good challenge but did not stop the field from scoring big.
Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting, & Golf Club is located in Oasis City, Al Ain. AESGC is an 18-hole Championship Course that offers a scenic and perplexing experience for all golfers. Just recently the back nine of the Championship Course has been floodlit to give golfers the option to play golf into the night hours.
The April UAE National Monthly Medal was played under the Stableford format along with a number of other different Special Event prizes. Winning the overall event was Ali Ahmed of Dubai with a Stableford score of 40 points. Ahmed scored 19 points on the front nine and 21 points on the back nine.
Coming in second place was Akram Skaik of Dubai, with Stableford score of 35, 5 points behind the leader. Mohammed Al Banna of Dubai finished in the third spot. After having a tough front nine, 14 points, Al Banna bounced back, scoring 20 points on the back nine for a total Stableford score of 34 points.
Sohail Al Marzouqi of Dubai won the Nearest to The Pin competition that took place on hole six.
The overall Gross winner was Khalid Yousuf of Dubai, Khalid shot a brilliant round of 73, 2-over-par. Yousuf was also the winner of the Longest Drive competition.
Winning Division A with a Stableford score of 33 was Ahmed Skaik of Dubai. Hassan Al Marzouqi of Dubai won the Division B prize. Al Marzouqi had a Stableford score of 34.
The Junior Division was close as first place was decided by one stroke. Over nine holes of stroke play, Mahmood Skaik of Dubai captured first place by shooting an impressive 52. Mahmood also won the Longest Drive competition in the Junior Division.
Tara Al Marzouqi of Abu Dhabi fell one shot short with a 53. Rounding out the top-3 was Khalid Al Mutawa of Abu Dhabi with a 59.
The Skaik family stole the show at this month’s UAE National Monthly Medal by taking home two first place prices and one-second place prize.
The next national event will be the Dubai Duty Free UAE Nationals Cup that will be hosted at Emirates Golf Club – Faldo, on May 3, 2014. The competition will be in full force as many Emiratis are expected to make a statement at this highly anticipated event.
