Al Qubaisi wins the Proclad Golf Society opener at Abu Dhabi Gofl Club

The Proclad Golf Society opened 2013-14 golf season at Abu Dhabi Golf Club on Thursday last with a Stableford tournament featuring seven groups of golfers adorned in bright red Proclad shirts and white Proclad caps.

On a perfect day for golf, and with the National Course in immaculate condition, twenty-six men and two lady golfers from the oil and gas industry enjoyed a fabulous day as hosts of the company. Scoring was high, with the overall winner, Darwish al Qubaisi amassing an impressive total of 41 points and going straight to the top of the Proclad Golf Society Order of Merit, a new introduction to the Society this year

It was no surprise that Al Qubaisi’s was also a member of the winning team, in which he was joined by Tony McKay, Ahmed Al Minhali and Hassan Al Suwaidi who together recorded an impressive score of 87 points. The longest drive prize went to Assad Al Muharrami, and the nearest-the-pin to Chris Smart.

A hole-in-one gave Mark Laws good reason to remember his first Proclad Golf Society Golf Day of the when his iron on the eighth hole hit the pin flag and dropped straight into the hole giving him a handsome score of four Stableford points and a special award at the prizegiving.

Awarding the prizes, Proclad’s James Littlejohn announced that the Proclad Golf Society, which invites executives from the oil and gas industry to a monthly golf day alternating month-on-month between Abu Dhabi Golf Club and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, is now in its second year, and continues to gain in popularity.
