Al Naboodah construction group LLC extends sponsorship of DP World Tour Championship for a 2nd year

For the second consecutive year, Al Naboodah Construction Group LLC – part of The Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group – will be an Official Sponsor of the 2012 DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, the final event of The European Tour’s Race to Dubai. With total prize money of $8 million, the DP World Tour Championship is the finale of the 2012 season with The European Tour’s top 60 golfers competing over the Greg Norman-design Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, from 22-25 November.

As well as the prize-money, star names – including World Number One and two time Major winner Rory McIlroy, Open Champion Ernie Els, reigning Race to Dubai Champion Luke Donald and former World Number One Lee Westwood – will also be looking to secure a share of The Race to Dubai Bonus Pool of $3.75 million and the prestigious title of European Number One.

Now in its fourth year, the tournament is recognised as one of the most successful and eagerly anticipated events on the calendar – and The European Tour is delighted to maintain its ongoing relationship in the region with Al Naboodah Construction Group LLC.

“Maintaining a successful relationship with commercial partners and sponsors is vital for the ongoing growth and development of any sporting tournament,” said Nick Tarratt, Director of European Tour International – Dubai Office.  “We were delighted to have Al Naboodah onboard for the first time in 2011 so it is a great boost for everyone involved with the DP World Tour Championship that the group has agreed to continue the partnership for this year. It is also a reflection of the success of the event and the benefits it affords our sponsorship partners.”

Supporting UAE activities and sporting properties is an important element of
Al Naboodah Construction Group’s CSR focus.

“It is part of our business philosophy to support prestigious sporting initiatives that add to the success of Dubai as a world-class destination and business hub, which the DP World Tour Championship certainly achieves,” said Gary Wells, CEO of Al Naboodah Construction Group LLC.

“We are also fully behind the Government of Dubai’s emphasis on promoting the importance of leading a healthier lifestyle and enjoying the benefits of sport. With over 50,000 spectators expected to attend the DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates, we are all looking forward to one of the most popular sporting and social experiences in the city.”

For the fourth consecutive year, entrance to the DP World Tour Championship will be free of charge. Spectators are requested to register for their free season tickets – courtesy of title sponsor DP World and The European Tour  – at the event’s official website www.dpwtc.com.
