Al Musharrekh Wins on Majlis Again in the Emirates Summer Open

Six weeks on from his win in the Black Tee Challenge; Ahmed Al Musharrekh impressed once again over the Majlis course in the Emirates Summer Open supported by Titleist, Ping and Footjoy. The UAE National Team star fired a gross 69 over the Dubai Desert Classic host venue including six birdies and three bogeys.
Having won the title in 2011 it was evident early on that he was keen to defend his title as he birdied the opening three holes. He dropped his first shot of the day on the demanding 166-yard par three 4th hole but bounced back with another birdie on the next. A second bogey on the 9th saw him to the turn in 33 strokes, 2-under par. Further birdies followed on the 10th and 14th but a bogey on the 15th resulted in a winning tally of 69.

Ahmed’s national team colleague Khalid Yousuf signed for a level par 72 to see him clinch runners-up place one shot clear of the consistent Tony Azoulay in third.

The net category was keenly contested but it was Choon Park who produced the shot of the day. Starting his round on the 161-yard 11th hole, Choon holed his tee shot and went on to card a net 66, good enough to win Division A (handicap 0-13). Also on the 6-under par mark was Phillip Wooler from the Montgomerie club, he settled for runners-up place following a card count back. Alan Salem also took route 66 to win Division B (handicap 14 and above) with Ian Ellis in second following his 67.

Pro Sports sponsored the tournament for the 11th year running and will continue their support of Dubai Golf events throughout the summer with the Summer Series. Footjoy will sponsor the opening event in the series on Friday 29th June, a 1:30pm shotgun start on the Majlis course.

The other three fixture dates are:
Saturday 14th July, Dubai Creek, 1:30pm
Friday 10th August, Faldo Course, 6:00pm
Saturday 25th August, Dubai Creek, 1:30pm
