Al Heloo Family Takes Top Honors at The Grand Final of the 2013-2014 AJYAL Golf Championship

Abu Dhabi City Golf Club hosted the grand final of the 2013-2014 AJYAL Golf Championship – Par 3 League.

The AJYAL Golf Championship – Par 3 League is open to all Emirati junior golfers under the patronage of the Shiekh Diab Bin Saif Al Nahyan, presented by the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF).

Abu Dhabi City Golf Club is located in the Al Mushrif area, in the heart of Abu Dhabi. The facility provided the juniors with a challenging atmosphere. The floodlit, 9-hole golf course that once was an undeveloped sandy area is now arguably one of the finest recreational courses in the UAE. With an evening tee time the Emirati juniors had the opportunity to showcase their skills that they have assembled all season long.

Mr. Shehab Al Hashemi CEO and Mr. Rhian Lobo General Manager of Abu Dhabi City Golf Club stated, “We were very honored to be part of such a great event, and to accommodate the grand final of the 2013-2014 AJYAL Golf Championship – Par 3 League.”

Taking the top honors in the Boys A Division was Obaid Al Heloo of Dubai. The Boys A Division was played over 9-holes. Al Heloo finished with a gross score of 37. Finishing in second place, one shot back, was Mohammed Al Hajeri of Abu Dhabi with a gross score of 38. The third place prize went to Khalid Al Mutawa of Abu Dhabi with a gross score of 40.

The winner of the Division B, which was played over 6-holes with both boys and girls competitors, was Alia Al Emadi of Dubai. Al Emadi had a gross score of 32. Khalifa Abdulla of Dubai finished in second place with a gross score of 36. One shot back and coming in third place was Adlii Dallal of Dubai with a gross score of 37.

Playing a total of 9-holes, the Girls Division had an clear winner. Reema Al Heloo of Dubai dominated her division with a gross score of 32. Coming in second place was Alyazya Al Shehhi of Sharjah with a gross score of 45. Finishing two shots back, in the third position, with a gross score of 47 was Rouda Rashid of Sharjah.

Being the Grand Final of the 2013-2014 AJYAL Golf Championship – Par 3 League the Abu Dhabi City Golf Club put on a number of different challenges for the juniors to enjoy. Winning the Nearest to the Pin Challenge on hole number 9 was Reema Al Heloo. Lastly winning the Distance Control Putting Challenge was Rashid Al Emadi and Mohammed Al Hajeri of Abu Dhabi. 

UAE National Team Coach Jason Froggatt had this to say about the season, “The EGF would like to sincerely thank THE CHILDREN OF SHEIKH DIAB BIN SAIF AL NAHYAN for sponsoring The AJYAL Golf Championship. This is the second season of their support and again we have seen between 24 – 30 children participate throughout each event. This year also saw our U-15 National Team win the Gold medal in the GCC U-15 Golf Championships in Oman. The U-15 team came through our Development Program and Par 3 League. The EGF is looking forward their support for next season and growth the game within Emiratis.”
