Al Budoor and Skaik take UAE Nationals Par3 League competition honour

Ahmed Al Budoor and Mahmood Skaik won the UAE Nationals Par-3 League competition, organized by the Emirates Golf Federation, at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club. Al Budoor carded a two-under-par gross score of 25 to win the Division A title by a good four shots from his nearest rival Obaid Khalid while Skaik (gross 28) held his nerve to emerge victorious in Division B by one stroke over Khalil Kashwani, who finished runner-up on a countback.

 

Mahmood Skaik’s cousin Ahmed Skaik, who shot a gross 31, also made it to the podium when he won the nearest to the pin prize on the challenging hole ninth.

 

In all 32 players competed in the concluding edition of the league which was aimed at giving young Emiratis, who are relatively new to the game, a feel for competition.

 

Saeed Albudoor, general manager of the Emirates Golf Federation, said: “Once again we had a good response to the event, thanks to the support from parents. The field comprised players from Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi which shows golf is gaining in popularity among young Emiratis from all our the country.

“Players like Ahmed and Mahmood have shown a marked improvement in their game. It was quite pleasing to see Ahmed post his first under-par score and I do hope his performance will encourage others to work hard on their game.”

 

RESULTS:

Division A (12-16 years): 1. Ahmed Al Budoor gross 25, 2. Obaid Khalid gross 29

Division B (under-12): Mahmood Skaik gross 28, 2. Khalil Kashwani Gross 29 (countback)

Nearest to the Pin (ninth hole): Ahmed Skaik.
