Al Budoor and Schwarte combined effectively to win the UAE National Day Junior Golf Championship
The talented duo carded a gross 30 to beat their nearest challengers Abdulla Al Qubaisi and Victor Prudomme by a good five shots. The team of Hammad Al Qubaisi & Emilie Schwarte finished third on a gross 37.
In all 44 players competed for honours in the championship held alongside the National Day tournament. Each team consisted of two players, one UAE national and one expatriate golfer, and followed the betterball gross format.
The championship had a family feel to it with parents assisting and supporting all juniors, who competed with great enthusiasm and spirit befitting the occasion.
The competition was part of the Emirates Golf Federation’s drive to give young Emiratis a feel for competitive golf. “We are planning more such events for juniors this season to keep the momentum going,” said Saeed Albudoor, general manager of the Emirates Golf Federation.
“I would like to thank all juniors and their parents for their support in making the championship a success,” he said. “We are also grateful to the management and staff of Yas Links for smooth conduct of the championship and look forward to their continued support.”
