Al Budoor and Al Heloo win the UAE Nationals Junior Par-3 League title in their division

Ahmed Al Budoor and Reema Al Heloo provided a glimpse of their budding
talent when they won the UAE Nationals Junior Par-3 League titles in their
respective divisions at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club.

Ahmed shot a gross 37 to take the honours in Division A which featured golfers
aged 16 and under at the par-27 course. The talented youngster beat his nearest
challenger Obaid Mubarak Al Shamshi on a countback while Reema took the Division
B (under-12) title, shooting a gross 26 over the six holes, a good four shots
ahead of second-placed Obaid Al Heloo.

The par-3 league, aimed at introducing young UAE nationals to the game as part
of the Emirates Golf Federation’s National Junior Programme, once again turned
out to be a hit with more than 20 UAE nationals from A Badia Golf Club, Dubai
Creek and Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club lining up for the honours.

“It’s nice to see the par-3 league gain in popularity among the UAE nationals.
The highpoint was certainly the enthusiastic support of the parents. With many
of them caddying and helping the kids in scoring, the league had the family feel
to it,” said Saeed Albudoor, general manager of the Emirates Golf Federation.

“I am sure with the support of the parents, the league will grow bigger and
better in stature in time to come. We are also grateful to different clubs for
all their help in making the league a success.

“We have a separate Order of Merit for the league which concludes in April, and
the winner would be invited to compete in the season-ending Pepsi Junior Am. We,
at the EGF, are planning to create more playing opportunities for UAE nationals
to hone their competitive edge and skills,” he added.
