Aiken pilots Emirates to victory in the DP World Tour Championship Rolex Pro Am

The Emirates team led by South Africa’s Thomas Aiken picked up the first trophy at the final event of The Race to Dubai thanks to a two-shot victory in the Rolex Pro-Am today (Tuesday), curtain raiser to the DP World Tour Championship.

Aiken’s team of Wang Jing Bo, Chen Pei Gang and Ding Xiao Liang combined to shoot a winning score of 22 under par on the Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates. It was enough to give them victory over the BMW team of amateurs Stathis I. Stathis, Harris Michaellides, Nick Evangelouplous and professional Tommy Fleetwood of England on 20 under par.

Third place on 19 under par, three shots behind the winners, was the team of DP World, led by England’s Ian Poulter – currently fourth in The Race to Dubai – and featuring amateurs Hardeep Singh, Bayer Khan and Kapil Dutta.

The Rolex Pro-Am is held prior to the US$8 million DP World Tour Championship, which will be staged on the Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates from Thursday to Sunday (14-17 November).
