ADTA Accolade To Mark Outstanding Commitment to Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship

Organisers of the US$2.7 million Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship have introduced a specialist annual award which will debut at this week’s event. ‘The Spirit of the Championship’ accolade will honour an individual who has delivered outstanding commitment to the tournament.

Created by Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), ‘The Spirit Of The Championship,’ will be awarded at next Sunday’s Championship event prize presentation at Abu Dhabi Golf Club to the person deemed by the organising committee to have delivered.

Anyone associated with the new-look European Tour-backed Championship, from spectators and volunteers to golfers and score-keepers, are eligible for the award.

“In instigating this accolade, we make a commitment to recognising the unsung heroes that make this tournament the world-class spectacle of golfing excellence that it is. To stage an event of this nature is a major challenge and its success involves everyone going that extra mile. That is what we want to honour,” said Faisal Al Sheikh, Events Manager, ADTA.

Award hopefuls will definitely get the chance to shine as the new look Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship readies to tee up its largest showing in its six year history.

Boasting its strongest-ever line up – including six of the world’s top 10, as well as, for the first time in the region, all current Major winners – as well as a massively enhanced off-course spectator experience, featuring best inc-lass entertainment, competitions and F&B outlets, this year’s event is tipped to raise the benchmark on international golf standards for the region.
