Abu Dhabi World Corporate Golf Challenge winners

Glyn Sowerby claimed his second consecutive Emirates NBD World Corporate Golf Challenge

Glyn Sowerby claimed his second consecutive Emirates NBD World Corporate Golf Challenge title yesterday. Pairing up with Zane Linnane, for the Abu Dhabi leg of the prestigious corporate event, the two-ball team from TDIC notched up a total of 47 points, eventually just edging ahead of Mark Towers and Stephen Clews by two points on the back nine countback.

In winning yesterday’s competition, the pair has booked a spot at the world finals of the event where they will team up with the Dubai winners, Suresh Shewakramani and Prabhakar Rao, in forming a four-ball team to represent the UAE.
The World finals take place in the stunning setting of George, South Africa and will bring together teams from all over the globe to compete from 3 to 8 May 2010 on Ernie Els’s magnificent Oubaai course as well as Gary Player’s signature course – the Fancourt Links.

“I’m absolutely thrilled, especially as we did not think we could repeat last year’s success,” said an excited Sowerby afterward. “I really appreciated the great opportunity to play golf between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. It’s a great opportunity to meet more golfers and, judging by the success of this event, it should be held in every emirate,” he added.
A thrilled Linnane reckoned: “This is brilliant! It’s the first time I’ve entered a golf competition in the UAE. And to win is incredible, especially with the prize of traveling to Fancourt in South Africa, one of the most beautiful courses in the world. Thanks to the sponsors and organizers – I’m still trying to believe our success!”
A total of 22 two-ball teams took part in the hugely popular Emirates NBD World Corporate Golf Challenge which was held at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club.

Caspar Rantsen was presented with the award for the longest drive while Anand Kapoor earned himself the Closest to the Pin accolade, with the golfers receiving some great prizes courtesy of Titleist.

Third place with 45 points was Livio Hubar and Atique Daneshmend and in fourth was past winner Shashi Raghavan and new partner Sergy D’souza.
