Abu Dhabi Golf Club to host Pink Lady Golf Day 2013 on October 22nd

Abu Dhabi Golf Club is preparing for a colourful invasion as the capital’s female golfing community gears up to raise money for Cancer Research UK in the upcoming Pink Lady Golf Day 2013.

The team-of-four Shamble competition will take place on the National Course on the 22nd October, in support of the breast cancer awareness month.

Fore-fronted by event organiser, Michelle Larter, this year will mark the emirate’s 7th Pink Lady Golf Day – a feat which Michelle is very proud of:

“Cancer Research UK is a leading charity devoted to fighting cancer through research. Treatments using viruses are moving from theory in the labs towards something practicable,” said Michelle. “If scientists can successfully mask viruses in the bloodstream, it could pave the way for treatments which seek out to destroy cancer cells, wherever they are in the body.

“Our golf day is about bringing awareness, giving support and raising funds. A dress-up theme is used as a way of creating entertainment and bringing together lady golfers of all levels to show support for this very worthy cause.”

Following on from the success of last year’s imaginative 70’s theme, this year Michelle has conjured up the very fitting theme of ‘Sport’, encouraging teams to dress in pink and ‘let their imaginations run wild.’

The event will kick off with a 10am shotgun start, followed by a prize-giving where teams will be awarded for ‘Best Golf’ and ‘Best Dressed’. A sumptuous buffet of the chef’s creative sport-themed dishes will then be held in the iconic Falcon Clubhouse’s second floor Qanas Function Room. A raffle draw will take place during the meal, giving players the chance to win one of 45 prizes donated by sponsors, and the evening will conclude with an auction.
