Abu Dhabi Golf Club appoints new Health and Nutrition Manager

Abu Dhabi Golf Club, one of the UAE’s leading golf clubs, has appointed new Health and Nutrition Manager Izzy Boudraa to develop the synergies between golf and fitness. The 34-year-old Frenchman will oversee the Troon-managed club’s health and fitness facilities and services to offer both members and guests a more personalized approach to keeping fit, as well as developing new healthy eating options to Café 28’s well-loved menu.

“Having worked in almost every corner of the world, I appreciate that no matter where people come from, we all have similar traits when it comes to health.  My goal at Abu Dhabi Golf Club is to make a difference, to change people’s attitudes and the way they approach fitness,” said Ismail, who has lived in the UAE for the past two years.

“I’m really looking forward to making some positive changes at the club, starting with new and exciting fitness classes in the gym.  I’m also excited to educate people on the best ways to eat.  I always tell my clients not to be afraid of food, because as soon as you fear food you will gain weight and be unhealthy by making unwise choices.  I have a huge interest in holistic food – food found in its original state – and this is something I’ll be working on closely with the Chefs to offer our diners.  ”

As well as nutrition, Izzy specializes in strength and body conditioning training aimed at improving overall fitness and tone.  With a background in hospitality management and two and a half years spent travelling the world on cruise liners as a fitness manager, the keen sportsman’s passion for health and nutrition first started through martial arts.

Troon Golf Abu Dhabi’s efforts to grow the game of golf have proven fruitful over the past few years. Expanding its health and fitness services at Abu Dhabi Golf Club is another way the team is hoping to do this.

Ken Kosak, Group General Manager at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, said:

“There is becoming more and more of an emphasis on health and fitness in the game.  To create longevity in your golfing career it has become clear that fitness levels, particularly core strength, flexibility and nutrition, are key elements for success.

“Izzy is a valuable new addition to the Abu Dhabi Golf Club team.  We’re positive that he will make an outstanding contribution with his, his enthusiasm and his wealth of international experience.”

To coincide with his new residency at Abu Dhabi’s leading golf club, Izzy has recently taken up learning golf.

“I’ve just started but I’m keen on improving and hope to join you all on the fairways very soon!

“With a few more weeks of the hot weather ahead, golfers should ensure they’re drinking fresh water with a lemon slice to re-alkalize & boost absorption to the needed cells in the body especially between 10am till 4pm. Keep energy levels up with healthy snacks such as bananas, dates which are easy to digest and provide tremendous amount of needed vitamins & minerals as well as a quick but steady energy release.  I’ll be adding some great snacks on the menu to help muscle replenishment after you exercise. Stay well and stay fit!”
