A year to remember in UAE Golf bring on 2012 bring

It was certainly great for UAE Golf

Welcome to the new look UAE Golf Online… it was time for another change and to freshen things up. This also gives me the ability to add more exciting new content during this year so watch this space. I hope you like the new style, It is a work in progress.

The UAE has had a golden Golfing year in 2011. So much Golf news came out of the Emirates on so many Golfing topics it was hard to keep up! I jotted down a few headlines that happened below:

Luke Donald winning a historic money list double at the Dubai World Championship.
Alvaro Quiros double at the Classic and the Dubai World Championship.
Dubai World Championship being awarded back to Jumeirah Golf Estates.
The return of Tiger to Dubai after his break.
Kaymer destroying the field in the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship.
Alexis Thompson becoming the youngest ever pro winner at a tour event.
UAE Golf team winning a Gold medal at the Arab Games and an Individual Gold.
Mena Golf Tour opened up its doors to the world to give the region its own tour.
Golf in Abu Dhabi launched to promote the Emirate further as a potential Golfing destination.

Finally the most shocking Golf news of a long list, I never played a game of Golf, sad but true…

Well, it does read like a vintage year to me and for it to be in a country like the UAE, it is really astonishing.

Another year lies ahead and we have Tiger trotting down the road to the capital at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. There will be a strong field including most of the giants, should be a good one!

The Omega Desert Classic is also just after the ADGC. Can Quiros retain his title? Always enjoy the Classic, let’s see what the field offers and if Abu Dhabi has drained the players’ loyalties.

The Mena Golf Tour also returns, again very interesting to see what Golf in Dubai has added to this potentially huge event for golf in the region and whether there is any major expansion.

We also have the reopening of the iconic Nad al Sheba 9 hole Golf Course at the Meydan. The latest news is looking like the course is going to be called “The Track Meydan”… more on this very soon.

So, roll on 2012 it could be another Golfing fest!

Thank you for your support.
