25th anniversary Omega Dubai Desert Classic tickets going quickly

Organisers of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic have reported a brisk sale of tickets ahead of the landmark 25th edition of the European Tour event which will be held at Emirates Golf Club from January 27 to February 2, 2014.

Featuring world number one Tiger Woods, Europe’s newly-crowned champion Henrik Stenson and Northern Ireland golfing sensation Rory McIlroy among other past champions in a star-studded field, the silver jubilee event will see top-class players contest for a share of the $2.5 million prize fund.
The tournament week begins with the “Champions Challenge, an 18-hole stroke-play showpiece, which will see past champions vie for the $600,000 prize fund on the Majlis course on Tuesday, January 28.
The customary Wednesday Pro-Am will have a morning and afternoon draw, giving spectators a unique opportunity to see the top pros up close and personal in a relaxed atmosphere as they interact with their amateur playing partners.
To avoid the last-minute rush, the organisers are calling upon the fans to buy tickets online by visiting the tournament web site www.dubaidesertclassic.com or www.golfindubai.org.
Daily tickets for the four-day main competition, starting on January 30, 2014, are priced at Dh 175. A season pass, which provides access all week, including the Champions Challenge and Pro Am day, is available for Dh 675.
Tickets to the Champions’ Challenge and the Omega Dubai Desert Classic Pro-am on Wednesday, January 29 will cost Dh 75 each.
All those aged 18 and under, will be allowed free entry to the course if they are accompanied by an adult who is holding a valid ticket for the day.
“We are expecting the 25th edition of the event to break records for attendance both locally and internationally as we have already sold more than 100 per cent of tickets compared to last year at this time,” said Mohamed Buamaim, vice-chairman and CEO of golf in DUBAI.
“We have been fielding requests already from a number of travel agencies, tour companies and golf fans around the world who want to visit Dubai and be part of the event’s celebrations,” he added
Members of GOLF CITIZEN, the new golf reservation website launched by golf in DUBAi in 2011, have been offered a special 25 per cent discount on tickets  Golfers from around the world can register as a ‘GOLF CITIZEN’ for free and buy their tickets online.
