2010 – 2011 Invitational Scratch Golf League Launched
Invitational Scratch Golf League has been launched with 12 teams from the UAE participating
The 2010 – 2011 Invitational Scratch Golf League has been launched with 12 teams from the UAE participating in this season-long event. Four Leagues have been created each of three teams with all teams playing home and away fixtures.
The winners of each of the four leagues then proceed to the semi-final stages. The leagues have been ‘semi-seeded’ with each of last year’s semi-finalists placed in separate pools with the balance of the teams being selected, as far as possible, on a geographical basis.
All first round league matches are required to be completed by 31st March, 2011.
Bob Driver, Invitational Scratch League Co-ordinator said at the launch, ‘We are delighted with the response to entries for this season’s Invitational Scratch Golf League. We welcome the return of The Montgomerie, Dubai and Abu Dhabi Golf Club as well as Yas Links, Abu Dhabi and the Palm Resort Al Ain participating for the first time.’
The format will remain as in previous years with 8 male players forming a team with each of the four matches played as scratch matchplay. Each winning team will earn 2 points plus a point for each individual game won. The losing team will earn one point per individual game won. A halved overall game will earn 3 points per team. An individual halved match does not have to go to extra holes for completion.
‘The Invitational Scratch Golf League is now established as a genuine highlight fixture in the UAE Golfing Calendar and we especially thank all the participating golf clubs for their support,’ concluded Driver.
The winners of League A will play the winners of League B in one semi-final and the winners of League C will play the winners of League D in the final semi-final with both semis to be played at neutral venues. The winning semi-finalists will then play each other in the final match to crown the 2010 – 2011 Invitational Scratch Golf League champions.

League D: Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club, The Els Club & Palm Resort, Al Ain.
