1st round of the inaugural ‘Ambassadors Cup’ Inter Business Council Team Golf Event at Dubai Creek

Dubai Golf and the Australian Business Council, Dubai, in collaboration with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry and in association with wasl staged the first round of the inaugural Ambassadors Cup, ‘Inter-Business Council’ team golf event at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club’s championship course on Thursday 28th April.

Seven of Dubai’s business councils entered a team, and the best 10 individual stableford scores counted towards the overall team score.  

The very windy conditions provided a real test for all of the golfers participating, however the Indian Business Council team of Ashok Galgotia, Juggie Brar, Ashok Kumar, Ashok Sindu, Vikram Motwani, Anan Lakhiani, Janish Kuranna, Anish Bhatia, Gurjit Greywal, Ashok Odhrani, Mukesh Khochhar, Surrender Kandhari, Rajiv Balmia, Dwaipayan Nath, Sudhaker Murthy and Capil Celly claimed round one with a points total of 314 from their best ten stableford scores.  The Indian team also triumphed in the stableford challenge on the 9th & 10th holes sponsored by Dubai Chamber with 54 points.

The Irish Business Council finished just behind the leaders and were only four points off the pace with a total of 310 points.  In third place Dubai Chamber carded 295 points ahead of the British Business Council in fourth place with 286 points.  The South African Business Council finished in fifth place with 275 points, German Business Council with 271 points in sixth place just a point ahead of the Australian Business Council finishing in seventh place with 270 points.

Hole competitions on the 1st hole were sponsored by wasl, the winner of the straightest drive was Dwaipayan Nath and the nearest the pin in two shots was won my Rajiv Dalmia.  On the 18th hole the longest drive and nearest the pin in two shots was won by Jeremy Coles and Paul Byrne respectively.  The 6th hole straightest drive was sponsored by IP Global and the winner was Sean Dolphin.  On the 7th hole the longest drive was sponsored by Acuma and Bradley Sutherland claimed the honor.  On the 13th and 14th holes nearest the pin in three shots and nearest the pin was sponsored by Pierlite and the lucky winners were Vikram Motwani and T. Nakovics.  Gulf Finance sponsored the birdie challenge on holes 16 and 17 and two gross birdies were carded by David Stoczenberg and Adam Booth.  
    
The second round will take place at Emirates Golf Club’s award winning ‘Majlis Course’ on October 27th, 2011.  The team with the best aggregate team stableford score over the two rounds will be named the champion and receive the Crystal Gallery sponsored trophy, in what promises to be an exciting finish to the event.
