Lindsay Brown, representing Palm Sport Resort, celebrated her 23rd birthday by clinching the Emirates Ladies Amateur Open. A dramatic conclusion to the 36-hole event saw Brown drain a 15-foot birdie putt on the final hole to secure victory over Nanna Nielsen. Nielsen, from Emirates Golf Club, held the lead after round one with a gross 74 over the Faldo course and was joined in the final group by Brown (77) and Jacqui Barry (79). Nielsen’s three-stroke lead soon evaporated on the final day through no fault of her own. Brown got off to a fantastic start recording 3 birdies on her opening eight holes coming on the 2nd, 3rd and 6th. However the momentum shifted on the 343-yard par four ninth as Brown found trouble in the trees and suffered a triple bogey seven, Nielsen carded a four to restore her lead going in to the back nine of the Majlis.

A four-bogey stretch from Nielsen resulted in the pair tied on the 18th tee. Both competitors found the green in three but it was Brown who holed for birdie and a level par 72 giving her a 149-winning total. Nielsen settled for runners-up place with rounds of 74 and 77 giving her a 151 tally.

Jacqui Barry got off to a poor start in the final round dropping four shots in the opening three holes but recovered well to post a final round 80 and third place finish. Claire Lindsay improved her opening round 83 by five shots to sign for a 161 tally gifting her fourth place overall.

Shawn Lunday from Abu Dhabi Golf Club claimed the best nett tally of the championship with rounds of 64 and 70.
