Abu Dhabi Golf Club celebrates another accolade at the Best in Abu Dhabi Awards 2010.

Abu Dhabi Golf Club is proud to announce that it won the ‘Best Sporting Club’ award at the Best in Abu Dhabi Awards 2010, which were held at the Yas Island Rotana Hotel on Saturday May 29th. The host venue to the European Tour’s Abu Dhabi Golf Championship, Abu Dhabi Golf Club’s latest accolade adds to its already impressive tally of awards this year, including its recent inclusion in Golf World’s worldwide 2010 Top 100 rankings.

Abu Dhabi Golf Club, which is fully owned by Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), the master developer of cultural, residential and tourism destinations in Abu Dhabi, and managed by Troon Golf, has long been regarded as one of the finest Championship venues on the European PGA Tour and has been showered with praise from the world’s elite professional golfers. On a local level, Abu Dhabi residents had their opportunity to vote for their favourite venues in a number of categories such as hotels, malls and restaurants for the inaugural Best in Abu Dhabi awards.  Being voted the best sporting club in Abu Dhabi is a tribute to the continuous improvements being made to the club for members, guests and also international visitors, proving it to be the most popular choice for those who enjoy its fine facilities and social atmosphere.

In 2010 Abu Dhabi Golf Club won the Middle East Golfer Awards for ‘Best Golf Club of the Year Overall’ and ‘Best Golf Course in the Middle East’; and in 2009 the Club won the Best Traveler Award for ‘Best Golf Course in the Middle East’, further establishing the TDIC-owned and Troon Golf-managed facility as one of the finest in the world. 

The course, carved seamlessly out of the desert, is situated twenty minutes from the city centre and ten minutes from Abu Dhabi International Airport. The Abu Dhabi Golf Club designed by world renowned golf course architect Peter Harradine, features one 18-hole golf course and one 9-hole course. Combined, they occupy 162 hectares and feature undulating terrain meandering through pockets of palms and ornamental trees, shrubs and seven saltwater lakes. The impressive Falcon Clubhouse has become one of the most iconic landmarks in world golf.
