The 6th RAK Ladies Amateur Open took centre stage on the 28th January over the immaculate Championship Course of Al Hamra Golf Club.
This event was an important event in the U.A.E Ladies order of merit and saw competitors travelling from all over the Middle East eager to pick up some vital ranking points. The 18 Hole Individual Strokeplay Tournament saw competitors battle to take one of the many great prizes and trophies on offer, with the ultimate prize being crowned the 6th RAK Ladies Amateur Open Champion.
With the course in pristine condition play got underway early on Saturday morning with competitors keen to get of to a fast start in order to try and post the best score in the clubhouse. With three Gross prizes and three Net prizes on offer there was plenty up for grabs including the main prize which of course went to the best gross score on the day. Six shots back from the Net Champion and picking up third prize in the Net division was Monina Gudaca who posted a respectable score of 76.

Runner-up in the Net division and just missing out on the top prize was Anastacia Bakal who posted a solid score of 71, which turned out to be just one shot shy of Julia Alhemoud who posted a great score of 70 leading to her being crowned Ladies Net champion. Onto the gross prizes and finishing in third position was in form Al Hamra member Rita Engelbrecht who carded a score of 88 which wasn’t quite enough to take the top prize this year. Runner-up in the Gross division was the 2010 RAK Ladies Amateur Open champion Nasha Sarkari who carded an 83 which turned out to be an incredible 8 shots behind the eventual winner.
With a great score of 75 and being crowned the 2012 6th RAK Ladies Amateur Open Champion for the second year running was Sana Tufail who played some quality golf and kept any major mistakes off her card. Sana went on to say ‘I always love coming to Al Hamra because the course is always in great condition and I really enjoy playing it. Hopefully I’ll be back next year to try and defend my title.’ Another successful RAK Ladies Amateur Open held at Al Hamra Golf Club and we hope to see all the competitors back again next year for the 7th RAK Ladies Amateur Open.
