The 6th RAK Mens Amateur Open took centre stage on the 14th and 15th October over the hidden gem course of Al Hamra Golf Club. This event was season opener for the U.A.E mens order of merit and saw competitors travelling from all over the Middle East eager to get their season of to the best possible start.

The 36 Hole Individual Strokeplay Tournament saw a record number of competitors battle to take one of the many great prizes and trophies on offer, with the ultimate prize being the 6th RAK Mens Amateur Open Champion.
With the course in pristine condition play got underway early on Friday morning with competitors keen to get of to a fast start in order to give themselves a chance being one of the leaders come Saturday. The highlight of day 1 was David Domanski’s fantastic round of 69 which gave him a 3 shot lead going into day 2. The best net score of the day went to Al Hamra member Andy Spavin who recorded a flawless net 68.
Day 2 again saw the competitors tee it up early with the leaders after day one going out last. There were 8 competitors within 6 shots of the leader meaning the title was up for grabs by anyone brave enough to post a low number. As the round unraveled it seemed the winner would come from one of the last two groups. Khalid Yousuf aiming for a third successive RAK Mens Open fought hard on day 2 posting a brilliant one under par 71 to add to his 75. Also in the same group was the talented young Daniel Hendry who also posted 71, the joint lowest round of the day, to sit leader in the clubhouse by two shots from Khalid after a steady 73 on day one.
As the final group completed their rounds Hendry emerged as Champion by one from UAE National team member Ahmed Al Musharrekh whos final round of 73 to add to his first round 72 just missed out of a play off by one shot pushing Khalid back in to third. The net prizes went to Sidney D’Souza who had scores of 68 and 69 giving a total of 137, enough to beat second place Bilel Belaid by 2 as he had a total of 139 after carding rounds of 69 and 70. Third net went to Richard Holden on 142 with 2 rounds of 71.
