Comber best of the bunch at the Al Ghazal Golf Club September Monthly Medal

The Al Ghazal Golf Club September Monthly Medal shotgun start was played at 7am last Friday morning, in hot and extremely humid conditions.

Thirty five brave competitors stuck it out through the calm steamy conditions, but this reflected in the scores returned.  The best nett score of the day was carded by Second Division Peter Comber with a one over par 72, Peter admitted that it was hard out there, but with a 35 on the front and 37 on the back it was enough to beat second placed Adda Haouara’s 74.

Third Division was won by ever consistent Steve Coulson beating newcomer, junior Julian Hawalitzky by one point.  It was Julian’s first competition and it is expected that if he can tame the day’s conditions what he will do in the cooler weather!

The First Division gold medal was won by Vinod Arya with a 74 from Kevin Darroch on 76.  The ladies division was won by Anina Bester with a 76, from Bobo Bradley on 82 and spoon winner Chaya Kinder.  Other men’s division spoon winners were Geovani Contreras, Larry Clarina and Jacob Breytenbach.
