Saadiyat Beach Golf Club lift the Annual Troon Associate Inter Club Golf Tournament trophy

Saadiyat Beach Golf Club lift the Annual Troon Associate Inter Club Golf Tournament trophy after holding off the challenge of defending Champions The Montgomerie Dubai, Abu Dhabi Golf Club and host club on the day, The Els Club.

Leading by 13 points going into the final event from The Montgomerie Team, the Saadiyat Beach Golf Club team was in a comfortable position. Abu Dhabi Golf Club closed the gap considerably following the 1st three complete matches with Geoff Lound and Steven Munro posting 37 and 36 points respectively. Alex Malabanan and Balder Singh provided Abu Dhabi Golf Club further encouragement by posting scores of 33 and 35 points, however the ever consistent Lisa Cole, Edwin Pinet and Jayasena Gedara sealed the title for Saadiyat Beach Golf Club by each posting scores of 35 points or better.  Defending champions The Montgomerie Dubai struggled to handle the quick, smooth putting surfaces at the Els Club and finished in third place ahead of the host club.

Winning Captain Paul Booth of Saadiyat Beach Golf Club said, “We are delighted with the victory and glad someone has finally removed the trophy from the cabinet in the Montgomerie clubhouse”.

Troon Associates at all clubs are already looking forward to trying the lift the trophy next summer.
