The 2011 RAK Ramadan Open took centre stage over two great golf courses during the first weekend in August. The format for this event was a 36 Hole Individual Stableford where the competitor with the highest combined total for both days would be crowned 2011 champion.

Day one of the event was held at Tower Links Golf Club where competitors teed of from 1pm onwards on the superbly conditioned championship course. The four nearest the pin prizes for day one were picked up by David Forbes on Hole No. 4, Andrew Costelow on Hole No. 8, Mark Stannard on Hole No. 16 and Gary Rigby on Hole No. 18.
The second and final day of the competition took place at Al Hamra Golf Club where competitors teed of in an 8am shotgun start. The four nearest the pin prizes for day two were picked up by Otto Hoefer on Hole No. 4, Johan Buxmann on Hole No. 7, Dave Gould on Hole No. 11 and Rory Watts on Hole No. 15.

The leaderboard turned out to be very tight at the top with a card play off needed to separate 2nd and 3rd place. In the end 3rd place went to Rahyn Thomas who carded scores of 41 and 35 points giving him a total of 76 points. Second Place went to Nicole Milton who carded scores of 34 and 42 points also giving her a total of 76 points. Charles took home the fantastic prize of a Titleist Stand Bag which was kindly sponsored by Pro Sports International and went on to say “I’ve had a fantastic weekend of golf here in RAK. It’s the first time that I have played Tower Links and have thoroughly enjoyed both courses. I will certainly be back in the very near future to take part in more RAK events.”
