Stroud Crowned Champion at Arabian Ranches Ecco Individual Stableford

Tony Stroud and Karen Evans were crowned ecco Open Champions in their respective Stableford Divisions at Arabian Ranches Golf Club on Saturday, 23rd April. Each player used their handicap index as the Tournament allowance.

This allowance was used to calculate their net score in Stableford points, a net score of par was worth 2 points, net birdie 3 points, net eagle 4 points and a net bogey 1 point. 96 players competed in this popular format with, Men (Division A 0 – 12) playing from Gold Tees, (Division B 13 – 28) Blue Tees, and Ladies – Red Tees.

The card of Stroud playing off a handicap of 9 was very impressive, with 6 gross pars and 2 gross birdie for a total of 38 points. A front nine of 18 points followed by a back nine of 20 gave Tony the victory by two shots from runner up Omer Khan. Alex Blom also with 36 points had to settle for third as he managed 16 points on the back nine against the 20 from Khan.

The Men’s B division crown went to Tony Stockley whose 41 points was the highest score posted on the day, Stockley won by virtue of a better back nine of 22 when his score was matched by Jerome Schockman also posting 41 but with 19 on his inward half.

In the Ladies Division Karen Evans returned a well balanced card of 38 points to win the ladies division by 1 point from Margaret Margetts.
